Brandon Lyon, Mets come to Agreement.

According to Jon Heyman, the Mets and Brandon Lyon have come to an agreement, pending a physical.  Earlier in the week, Sandy Alderson told the media he would be done acquiring bullpen arms if an agreement with Lyon could be reached.  Now that this has happened, i do not expect Alderson to renig on the statement that he wont be spending more money.  This is a great signing i think, and assuming Lyon is still healthy and doesnt re injure his elbow he will go a long way to solidifying the bullpen.  On another note, Frank Francisco has said yesterday that he is the Mets closer and Terry Collins agreed saying that we all saw how good he was when he was healthy.  What did the two of them see last year…? Sure he has the ability to pitch, and every now and then had shut down innings, but who hasnt when pitching at this level.  He is way too inconsistant to be a closer, and its not even the fact that he is inconsistant, its that he never has a slightly off game, when he is not on top of his game he implodes to the point where youre just wondering how he is going to blow the game.  not IF.  I can definitely see Lyon closing this year, or if they go away from Francisco they may rather use Parnell who pitched well in the roll in September.  Either way, if it is not Francisco in the ninth inning, i am happy.
